healing on fire island

Rocks and her AA Jenna were working on equipment and supplies. She had a new anesthesia machine and suction machine on the way. She was
going to in-service her side-kick on the operation of the new machine so they would be ready when it arrived. She had the simulator program uploaded on her iPad and they worked through the machine check all the way to the set up of the monitor and the ventilator management. After an hour they both felt they were ready to hook up a patient, high fived, and went on to inventory.

They were knee deep in accounting for multiple antibiotics when they were interrupted by a call from the front desk.

Kelly had a delivery for Rocks. This was puzzling, as most of the deliveries were for staff. Rocks verified and asked for the guy to
come to the back. She needed to sign but was not willing to leave the operating room. When he arrived she was pleasantly surprised to
find he was bringing two dozen fire-red roses with a note.

Rocks blushed immediately, which was a feature the girls had never witnessed. Buck had sent roses along with an invitation to lunch. Although she had dressed casually that morning, Buck had provided more formal attire which was waiting in the locker room. Rocks was blown away. She waltzed out of the clinic in a crazy state of mind, and more than ready to allow him to court her. She realized that she was finally Healing on Fire Island.

Rocks returned from clinic and decided that she needed to purge Luke from BreakAway. As if in agreement Jet followed her as she sanitized the scent of Sophia and Luke, and removed all the evidence of him from her vessel. She didn’t feel any emotion as she dropped things in the dumpster, and reminded herself of his sin. It was a cleansing moment.

She would need several weeks to recover, but it would be quiet time for Rocks. She had things to do anyway.

She was pissed. It was a time to get busy. She was a woman on a mission. FIRE On! He had walked the dock without so much as a fuck you. She felt that the past three years were flowing away with the tide. What a waste. THAT BITCH! What was he thinking? She couldn’t wrap her head around it. So she would make it her mission to erase him. It was sunset.

    • Decisions, decisions, decisions... BJA Podcast with Paul Greig
Imagine you are sitting on the runway, waiting to take off to your holiday destination. As you begin to taxi the pilot announces that there is an engine warning light flashing, but that in his experience this almost always amounts to nothing and both him and co-pilot have made a pragmatic decision to proceed, given that the flight was already running late. I […]
